GAC Dubai is looking for candidates for the role of Marine Surveyor to be based in Dubai. Could it be you?

Job Description

The main purpose of the job is to act promptly, professionally and effectively to attend draft surveys/ container & cargo surveys / bunker surveys / collision / pollution / marine incidents / sealing and unsealing of hatch covers, and to witness cargo samples during analysis in labs, respond to business correspondence, maintain accurate and regular timesheets, coordinate with third party contractors, meet financial targets, and provide advice to principals/members, local ship owners and agents to enhance business relationships. The role contributes towards Department goals and targets by proactively handling claims and generating as much income as possible.

Duties include:

• Handling marine surveys from first notification to conclusion.
• Attend to surveys whenever appropriate and retain as much as the outsourced survey work.
• Read and respond to all correspondence and incoming mails from Principals and Members.
• Prepare clear and concise survey reports as per Club requirements.
• Maintain accurate and regular time sheets of all work done and account for all disbursements.
• Liaise with third party contractors and use appropriately with respect to survey work.
• Achieve set financial target every month and follow up on outstanding.
• Conduct marketing with local ship owners and agents.

Educational Qualification :Master Marine with Surveying experience and certificate

Professional Qualification :UAE Driving License

Specialist Knowledge :Good knowledge of marine practices and technical know-how, good local contacts /agents

Communication / Language :Excellent English communication skills

Computer Aptitude: Proficient with MS Office and MS Outlook

Detailed Experience Levels : Minimum 3 years of experience in similar role. 5 years of experience in surveying P&I work. 3 years sailing experience as Captain.
