Logistics Trainee Programme

The Logistics Trainee Programme prepares candidates fresh out of school or without relevant experience for a career in logistics with GAC Singapore. Over the period of two years, the programme combines a series of rotations in various departments and verticals in the logistics sector, as well as structured training, to prepare trainees for a logistics career in the company in the area that maximises their strengths and aspirations, considering the company’s manpower deployment and allocation needs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• The Trainee will be trained and given the responsibility to manage the handling and execution of freight operations which include export and import for air/sea and land freight with focus on customer service and operational excellence.
• They will be attached to different logistics departments/verticals and work in partnership with different department/vertical Heads for hands-on training​. The Trainee will be exposed to the functions and operations of the respective departments during the period of attachment and after completing their attachment, they will have a full knowledge and understanding on the operations on the respective functions.
• Creation of job files.
• Ensure proper cargo handling, documentation, customs formalities and clearances.
• Perform both Customer Service and Operations roles in the day-to-day operations.
• Understand the logistics value chain which includes freight forwarding and warehousing.
• Upon completion of the programme, the Trainee will have a comprehensive knowledge on the core aspects of logistics operations.
• The training programme will consist of on-the-job & off-the-job training and mentorships from Managers.
• Upon successful completion of the Trainee Programme, the Trainee will be placed into a position in the Logistics Department considering their strengths and aspirations and the company’s manpower deployment and allocation needs.

• Tertiary Qualification in any field. A relevant field in Logistics/Supply Chain would be advantageous.
